We're back with another edition of the FEDSA Feed!
There really is no holding back when it comes to the front-end and product world! Astro just shipped a big new release, TypeScript is preparing for a large architectural shift, and there's a new WebGPU tool on the block you might want to try out!

Astro 6.0
In the world of static site generators, Astro is undoubtedly leading the pack. Version 6 introduces a built-in Fonts API, a Content Security Policy API, and support for Live Content Collections that work with your externally-hosted content through the unified Astro content layer. A huge change sees astro dev switch to Vite's Environment API to let the dev server run non-Node runtimes (like Cloudflare Workers, Bun, and Deno), so local development finally matches production.

TypeScript 6.0 RC
TypeScript 6.0 is a landmark release, and a farewell of sorts. It's the last version built on the current JavaScript codebase, acting as a bridge to TypeScript 7.0, which will be powered by an entirely new compiler rewritten in Go. The move to Go brings native-speed performance and multi-threaded processing, which is a massive deal for large codebases. Most changes in 6.0 are focused on preparing developers for that transition. Interesting times ahead for the TypeScript ecosystem.

Keeping your UX Cool in 2026
by Elizabeth Duff

The world of UX design in 2026 is changing fast. An astonishing array of new tools, shifting user expectations, and rapidly evolving technology mean designers need to adapt and commit to new ways of working and creating.
Indeed, Jakob Nielsen has declared that “2026 marks the end of the “Party Trick” era of Artificial Intelligence and the beginning of the Integration Era.”
AI is no longer a thing of novelty in digital product design, and the time to speculate on its value has long passed. In the face of so much flux, designers often feel an acute sense of urgency to keep up with the UX landscape. This can feel overwhelming, so it helps to approach UX in 2026 with clarity, empathy, and purpose.
